How to growing a site powered by content
process for posting new content
samples, refinement and implementations
Two models of Content publishing
Daily and Hourly posts:
news sites, community sites and some affiliate sites
ex: theverge.com - 900-word article each day
After a year:
Thousands of articles
0-20 visitors per day for each
Weekly & Monthly Posts
Affiliate, e-commerce, saas businesses, services
more depth process and flexibility
ultravr.org- 6000 words in 2-3 months
After a year
Dozens of articles, 0-1000 visitors a day
in both situations, you have a huge discrepancy between the minimum (0) and maximum (20 to 1000) visitors a day
The Bear Theory:
do better than your competitors
#1 Good on page, 2 Shares, 3 backlinks
#2 Good on page, 1 Shares, 1 backlinks
#3 Good on page, 3 backlinks
#4 Good on page, 0 backlinks
#5 Good on page, 0 backlinks
#6 Good on page, 1 backlinks
#7 Good on page, 0 backlinks
#1 Spot will get you 20 daily visitors while #5 will get you 3 readers i.e about 7x more traffic
Implementing the process:
1st process:
Write out the exact list of steps that you take after you hit "Publish"
1- post the article on official site facebook page
2- post the article on the official twitter page
3- post the article on google+
4- Bookmark the site using my accounts on Syndwire, folked.com
Process essentials:
Quick, repeatable, scalable and easy to execute
-you can easily explain your process to someone else
- 15 minutes process
Process Goals:
On-page discussion, social shares, direct links
- Your building blocks should focus on improving the page
(for instances, in some processes, i have the team member set a specific sidebar for each post and leave 2 seed comments)
- You want to encourage discussion on social media and reach link builders (in some niches, the process involves sending 2-3 email to s specific list of influencers)
- You want to encourage or build link to each posts. links will have a long lasting impact when you publish a lot o content (it can be as easy a creating a google document with description and a link)
Your Second Pocess:
Refine your recipe as you move forward
After publishing an article, I will:
Example 1:
1. Leave a seed comment applauding the post using my alternate profile to seed a discussion on the page
2. post the article on the official site facebook page
3. post the article on the official virtual reality group page
4. post the article on the official twitter page
5. post the article on Google+
6. Email the list alerting them of the new article
7. Bookmark the site using my accounts on syndwire
8. Post the article on the reddit.com/r/virtualreality/subreddit
Example 3 evolution:
After publishing an article, I will:
1. Use BrowSEO to leave positive and negative comment (Using profiles 1 and 2) to encourage discussion and controversy
2. Alternate using one of the browSEO with profiles (#3,4,5,6,7) to leave Disqus Comments on RoadtoVR, VRNeards and UploadVR with ninja link back to post
3. Post article on official site FB Page, Virtual Reality Groups, HTC VINE Group, Samsung Gear VR Group
Use browseo profiles #8 and #9 to like, share and comment on posts
4. Post the article on the Offical Twitter page, retweet with profiles #1,4,9
5. Post the article on Google+, vote+1 with profiles #2,4,10
6. Add post to "weekly roundup email" scheduled for Friday
7. Bookmark the site using my accounts on sender
8. Post the article on the reddit.com/r/virtualreality/subreddit
9. Use sister site #1 and 2 post 90 word snippet and 150 word commentary on the post with link back using exact match URL as anchor text
